just to lower the tone a little…

some pictures from the past week or so :)

first, I decided to actually try and become a blogger! see, I may or may not find it hard to make it a secret that I find some ‘blogging’ foods or combinations really rather strange. green smoothies? er, no. vegetables will never find their way into my drinks. carrot cake oats? I’d rather have a slice of carrot cake or a plain bowl of porridge with raisins and brown sugar (not together though!)

however. I’ve been on a total PB kick lately, so thought for kicks I’d try out this jar thing. bear in mind, in this case it was PORRIDGE in a jar. on this strange island we don’t call it oats ;)

unfortunately I think I sort of failed though. PB&CO? sorry…bit expensive…and I find it a bit too runny too? anyway Tesco’s own PB is actually rather good :) this was quite amusing to eat especially as a double serving of Oatso Simple (yeah I also fail in this respect, much prefer it to whole oats cause I don’t have to bother sweetening it myself!) fits perfectly in the jar. I may do this again despite my cynicism :P

this is just me being vain…also new t-shirt from Topshop. I am so loving this colour and on a mission to find any other items of clothing in it I can get my hands on!

essence of summer…Ben & Jerry’s :) ah and I love how aesthetically pleasing my car’s dashboard is! good for photos!

our little town is so cute…see the little stall selling whippy ice cream in this photo? adorable!

and another one to continue the ‘Britishness’ theme :P (it’s a poster in the window of Whittards!)

oh and a new fun food discovery…deconstructed sushi :) mine is mackerel and avocado but I’m sure it would work with anything. oh and have been having this and other Asian themed food with lemon iced tea. just discovered it in the supermarket and it makes me think of visiting Hong Kong, cause I used to drink it like water over there. they actually do mango and peach as well over here, but lemon’s my favourite! totally recommended :)

less than two weeks until my exams are over…I just wish it would stop being so sunny! all I want to do is go out :(

I am also a fan of the pleasingness of Mini dashboards, given that my mum has one. I also like the cute sound it makes when you undo your seatbelt before the car stops! Love the pic of you in that cool t-shirt :-)

Haha, I think I may have betrayed my British roots by frequently referring to it as ‘oats’ in a jar.

I love your take on blog food/fads and your brilliantly cynical sense of humour. This post really put a smile on my face in the best possible way. In my defence, I was eating porridge with protein powder in it waaay before it appeared on blogs. I was the original Sun Warrior Queen ;)

Your t-shirt is gorgeous ~ it reminds me that I am stupidly excited about the LOST finale now…no sleep for me until Monday at 5:00am (not that that’s exactly unusual in my world…)

Ahh, I love seeing pics of Durham! You always make it look so picturesque.

I hope you can find at least a little time to enjoy the sunshine ~ relaxation is important too, remember.

P.S I really wanted to comment on your last post but to be honest it was so deep and profound that it made my brain weep. In fact my head still hurts trying to conceptualise some of the points you were making. Keeping up with your brilliant mind is a challenge anyway, particularly when my own just won't work at the moment!

    Hi

I have been reading your blog for a while and have been so impressed by the fantastic steps you have made in fighting anorexia. I am currently in recovery but am still stuggling with ‘ed habits’ . You seem so liberated in your posts, you are such an inspiration!

I am a fan of pb too! Have you ever tried other nut butters? Cashew is quite nice, they usually have it in the ‘whole foods’ section of supermarkets. Holland and Barrett do tonnes of different ones too- almond, hazelnut etc.

I might give this oats in a jar thing a go- I have always wondered how it would turn out- I do have visions of it exploding in my microwave though!

aw thank you! don’t worry about persisting habits, you can always get rid of them. and while some have to be actively pushed out, others tend to fade away, I’ve found. feel free to email if you ever want to chat :)
other nut butters – yeah I’ve tried cashew, loved it. odd cause I really don’t like plain nuts? but yeah tis good. as for exploding jars…I make my porridge on the hob in a pan, then pour it into a bowl (or jar!), so you could do the same in the microwave, like cook it in a bowl then transfer it? I’ve never tried putting a jar in the micro so idk if it would go bang or not! x

LOVING the tescos version of porridge in a jar. bring on the brits!!!
sadly i cant stand the stuff, PB makes me want to gag :-p but ive used up my honey jar many a time, i quite like the novelty of not using a bowl… dont u think it makes it taste different?!?! maybe its just me :-)
lemon iced tea is lush… perfect summertime drink! do you get the liptons one? in a can? i saw a can of iced mint tea once, in a random little foody shop. i wish i’d bought it. i bet it tastes gorgeous….

I somehow find “porridge” much more appealing-sounding than oats. In Singapore, we call rice gruel as porridge. :-)

Does that shirt come already with the words “Let’s Get Lost?” is that any reference to the popular TV show?
